The only maintenance your water softener should require is adding salt. However, if you notice salt building up around the inside of the softener use a clean, damp cloth with no detergent and give a wipe round to loosen the salt. How often you replace your salt depends on your water usage and what type of softener you have.

We recommend you’ll need approximately one block of salt per person, per month. Simply lift the lid on the unit and check the salt usage every week. For softeners that require tablet or granular salt an average family would use a 25 kg bag every 4 – 6 weeks depending on which type of softener you have.
